ADMINISTRATORSHIP UPDATE
Administrator Ryan Welles congratulated the delegates for their election and for their work in rebuilding Local 1549. He then continued to recap Local 1549’s accomplishments during the administratorship, including: adopting a new constitution, finalizing chapter elections after runoffs, electing and attending the AFSCME international convention, Labor Day parade attendance, and ongoing shop steward elections.
He also mentioned that Local 1549 administrators were working to extend the lease at 30 Vesey St to avoid a penalty when we move into 125 Barclay, which is projected to open in October.
The last update was related to AFSCME Strong goals, including new member sign-ups, VMO trainings (which are currently paused), and ongoing efforts to plug membership into the union’s work.
